National Volunteer Week
April 14 to 20, 2024
Each year in April, Canadians recognize and celebrate the contributions of volunteers during National Volunteer Week (NVW). It’s an opportunity to highlight the importance of every volunteer and the difference each person makes, especially at a time when we need more support than ever.
This year, the theme for #NVW2024 is “Every moment matters.” Each moment of support and kindness provided by volunteers is part of a collective effort made to strengthen inclusivity and well-being in our communities.
At St. Joe’s we have a dedicated team of over 350 volunteers who have continued to show their compassion, commitment and kindness by supporting patients and families through their care journeys. Volunteers support our patients in so many ways, from greetings and way-finding, to companionship and pet visits, mealtime support for inpatients, to providing useful information in our Resource Centre. Still more volunteers offer their skills and expertise as part of our boards and patient and family advisory councils. Volunteers are a vital part of St. Joe’s and this week and every day of the year, we celebrate and honour their contributions.
This week, when you see a St. Joe’s volunteer in our hallways, on the units and in your programs, take a moment to stop and let them know how much their efforts help to make every moment matter at St. Joe’s.
