St. Joe's Hosts A Mental Health Morning, presented by ArcelorMittal Dofasco to End the Stigma Around Mental Health
On Thursday, October 5th, during Mental Illness Awareness Week, St. Joe’s hosted over 500 Hamiltonians for a breakfast event that had a big impact. Now in its 5th year, A Mental Health Morning presented by ArcelorMittal Dofasco saw guests engaged in the candid conversation of keynote speaker General Roméo Dallaire who shared his story and perspectives about mental health to together help break down stigma.
Lieutenant-General, the Honourable Roméo Dallaire (Ret’d), international human rights advocate and mental health champion, was the keynote speaker at A Mental Health Morning presented by ArcelorMittal Dofasco, and shared his personal struggle with PTSD and what still needs to and can be done to break the stigma around mental illness and addiction.
“Mental illness is an emergency in our country. You empathy and support toward those living with mental illness or those supporting someone living with mental illness is so needed, and applauded.” – Lieutenant-General, the Honourable Roméo Dallaire (Ret’d)
Since the first Mental Health Morning, ArcelorMittal Dofasco has been a proud supporter and this year we were proud to welcome them as presenting sponsor, once again demonstrating their commitment to supporting St. Joe’s and the health of our community.
