Two St. Joe’s Researchers Awarded Distinguished University Professor Title at McMaster University
We would like to congratulate Dr. Deborah Cook and Dr. Paul O’Byrne on their outstanding achievement of receiving the title of Distinguished University Professors by McMaster University. The title is McMaster’s highest academic honour, and is presented to professors who have achieved the pinnacle of excellence in teaching, learning and research.
Both Dr. Cook and Dr. O’Byrne conduct research studies from our hospital, and are affiliated with the Research Institute of St. Joe’s Hamilton. Dr. Cook’s research has been instrumental in improving the quality of life for patients in the intensive care unit, while Dr. O’Byrne’s work has transformed the way in which physicians treat asthma and allergies.
St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton is an academic health sciences centre fully affiliated with McMaster University. We are privileged to have both Dr. Cook and Dr. O’Byrne engage in research in our hospital, and we are fortunate to improve patient care and outcomes through the work that they do.
