The physical toll of COVID-19, quantified in sobering daily updates from public health officials, is all too evident.
The mental health burden is more difficult to measure, even as it afflicts people widely, and in different ways.
Anxiety can be manifested in everything from fear of contracting the virus, to stress over isolation, altered routines, and a pervading unease about the future.
And this psychological ripple effect of the pandemic may continue long after it fades.
