COVID-19 outbreak officially over in inpatient unit at St. Joe’s
In consultation with Hamilton Public Health, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton has declared a healthcare worker outbreak of COVID-19 on CTU Central over.
- The outbreak on CTU Central (seven staff), a general internal medicine unit at the hospital’s Charlton Campus, was declared over Nov. 30, 2020.
Hamilton Public Health and St. Joe’s Infection Prevention & Control and Occupational Health & Safety teams tested all staff on the unit. Proper PPE was used during patient care, however, out of an abundance of caution, all patients from this unit were also tested and regularly screened for symptoms.
Testing, contract tracing, and infection prevention measures ensured there was no further transmission of the virus.
The unit was closed to new patients over the last two weeks, but has now reopened for admissions.
