COVID-19 outbreak officially over on surgical unit at St. Joe’s Charlton campus
In consultation with Public Health, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton has declared the outbreak officially over on 6GI, a surgical unit at the hospital’s Charlton Campus.
- The outbreak on 6GI (four healthcare workers and one patient) was declared over Feb. 4, 2021.
In managing the outbreak, Hamilton Public Health, St. Joe’s Infection Prevention and Control and Occupational Health and Safety teams regularly screened and tested all patients and healthcare workers for COVID -19. They also conducted case and contact tracing, and implemented extensive infection control measures.
The unit was closed to new patients over the last two weeks, and has now reopened for admissions.
