Our Thoughts Are With Those Affected By The Nepal Earthquake
On April 25, 2015 a devastating earthquake hit Nepal which took the lives of more than 10,000 people. There were many areas affected by the earthquake, where people’s homes and communities were demolished. Rabindra Nepal, a medical technologist in the Virology lab at St. Joe’s, shares the name of his homeland where family still resides. Nepal and his wife’s relatives are all doing well without being greatly affected in the aftermath. There is enough food and water for two weeks, however, Nepal worries that disease will spread from heavy rainfall and poor conditions.
Rabindra is on the Board of the South Asian Heritage Association of Hamilton and Region. They are hosting an annual festival on Saturday, May 2, 2015 to raise funds for the victims of the Nepal earthquake. The free event, takes place from 6 - 9 p.m. at Bishop Ryan Secondary School, 1824 Rymal Rd. E., and is open to everyone. Food booths will open at 4 p.m.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Nepal and his family, and all that were affected by this disaster.
